About The Role :

As a  Koorie Tutor , you will play a vital support role—similar to a teacher’s aide—within our Corrections Education Centre. You will work alongside teachers to provide culturally appropriate mentoring and learning support to Indigenous students in custody. This role is not a teaching position but focuses on helping students engage with their education, build confidence, and prepare for future opportunities.

In this role you will :

• Provide culturally safe and responsive academic support
• Work closely with teachers to assist students with coursework and learning strategies
• Build strong, respectful relationships with students to foster trust and motivation
• Help students develop confidence, skills, and a sense of purpose through education

We are excited about you because you have :

• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
• A strong understanding of Indigenous culture, identity, and community issues
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A commitment to culturally respectful and inclusive practice
• A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or adult education qualification is desirable but not essential
