Develop and drive a positive safety culture within the business, consistent with the national initiativeCreate an environment where the business leaders own safety, and your role is to provide specialist guidanceWork closely with the state and operations managers to achieve consistency of Health & Safety strategies, service delivery arrangements and performance outcomes.Assist in the roll out of corporate health and safety standards and train and educate operations on key corporate standards.Lead, coach and support operational managers with positive strategies based on proactive analysis of information, leading and lagging indicators & culture survey results to promote a positive and resilient safety culture for team members, visitors, customers and contractors.Monitor, guide and inform the operations on Health & Safety management policies, procedures, and networks consistent with safety management system.Pre-empt arising or future Health & Safety issues through the provision of proactive and preventative solutions.Support managers in incident, near miss, hazard reporting and investigations.Actively input into safety process improvements through key projects developed from employee feedback and historical reportingEnsure the safety committee is established, they are meeting at least monthly, and the State Manager is the leader of this committee.Ensure site workplace inspections and risk assessments are carried out as per risk management standard to detect existing or potential risks in health, safety, environmental or quality hazards and facilitate appropriate preventative measures and corrective actions.Ensure appropriate participation in audits / inspections.Facilitate and where required lead safety investigations.Liaise with key stakeholders internally and externally in the event of a serious incident to share investigation outcomes, provide appropriate communication, prevent recurrence and mitigate further liabilityWork with the fleet managers to ensure truck drivers compliance with fatigue management.Contribute to reviews of the strategy and ensure that there is local alignment.Provide support and assistance to the corporate health and safety team as required.Assist the Qualifications manger to manage and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure all required training is conducted within the allocated timeframesAssist the National Rail safety & investigations manager in monitoring and identifying actions resulting from the incident management review processSubmit weekly and monthly reports to the National Risk, Training and reporting manager on health and safety performance.Assist is site Audits and compliance where requiredParticipate and assist with internal, external or customer auditing requirements (e.g. ISO 45001, NHVAS, ONRSR, HACCP etc).Desired Skills and ExperienceDesired Skills and ExperienceRelevant tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Saftey or related field (desirable)Previous experience WHS partnering (preferably within the transport industry).Understanding of National heavy vehicle regulations and Chain of responsibilityHave a professional and positive approach to their workPossess strong verbal and written skills as well as an excellent eye for detailAbili
