What is the role?
The Work Health and Safety (WHS) capability is an important element of SHIELD. SHIELD is a multi-disciplinary health capability which embeds a preventative health and wellbeing focus into the day-to-day operations for AFP employee by providing services across Australia and directly supporting the health of the frontline. SHIELD will propel the AFP to a more preventative, forward leaning, face to face service delivery model in support of performance optimisation.
AFP’s complex and diverse Work Health and Safety (WHS) landscape requires dynamic and innovative WHS solutions which support member safety and continuous improvement, while enabling achievement of operational objectives. The WHS team exists for the dual purposes of ensuring AFP’s compliance with its WHS legislative obligations to mitigate, and reduce, workplace injury and illness and to support the development of a robust preventative organisational safety culture.
The WHS team includes an operational capability aligned to specific AFP Commands, as well as a national capability focussed on strategy projects and facilitation of regulatory engagement and compliance. WHS Advisors contribute to identification of trends, and major safety concerns and development of are looked at holistically with respect to the AFP Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS).
These roles are full-time and ongoing with ability for some flexible work arrangements to be considered.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.
What will you do?
Work Health Safety Advisors are responsible for leading, advising and reporting on AFP Work Health Safety strategies, plans and initiatives in collaboration with AFP Health and Safety Representatives.
