Southern Cross Care QLD has an opportunity for a Head Gardener to lead our gardening / maintenance team at the Caloundra Rise Retirement Estate in Little Mountain. This is a permanent full-time role.

About the role
As the Head Gardener at our Caloundra Rise Retirement Estate, your focus will be on overseeing the estate gardens and grounds to ensure exceptional presentation and experience for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct regular inspections of the estate to identify and address maintenance needs.Set daily and weekly goals for the gardening / maintenance team to complete tasks within working hours.Manage and organize resources, ensuring tools and resources are efficiently used.Maintain an up-to-date electronic inventory of all equipment.Develop, in consultation with the Estate Manager, a preventative maintenance and servicing program for machinery and equipment.Build and maintain effective relationships with local contractors.Assess and prioritize work order requests and manage their completion.Carry out work in accordance with health and safety requirements.Create a seasonal planting and lawn care schedule, reporting quarterly on the upcoming season to your Estate Manager.Perform seasonal and ongoing care for lawns and plants, including mowing, aerating, edging, pruning, fertilizing, and weed management.Mentor new or casual team members and contractors.What will you bring to the role?
Experience in gardening, landscaping, groundskeeping, or similar is advantageous, but a passion for gardening is most important.Willingness to undertake a variety of tasks with a positive attitude.Strong understanding of lawn care principles.High attention to detail.Experience with trimming and cutting felled trees (or willingness to obtain).Previous experience managing contractor relationships.Ability to work from manuals and drawings.Current QLD Driver’s License.Exceptional interpersonal and mentoring skills.Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.Strong decision-making and time management skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Who is Southern Cross Care Queensland?
