Project Manager – Medicines Safety Program

The Role

As a  Project Manager, National Program Delivery you will operate under the broad direction of the Director to ensure effective day to day project management in the Medicines Safety Program. You will act as the link between the Director and project teams ensuring alignment, operational efficiency and continuous improvement in the delivery of projects and programs.

Reporting to the Director, you will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role. The Project Manager will exercise sound decision making and judgement to produce high level policy advice, engage in complex problem solving and issues management and may coordinate and undertake detailed or sensitive projects that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for the agency.

Additionally, project, program and / or operations work may be internally focused or externally focused, as such you will have strong stakeholder engagement skills and will be responsible for leading consultation with key internal and external stakeholders to understand, negotiate and resolve complex, difficult or sensitive issues arising within a project / program.

Key duties will include but are not limited to :

• Take responsibility for the achievements of own and team outcomes, monitor progress and follow through to deliver quality outcomes.
• Consider and effectively manage competing priorities and strategic directions when achieving team planning and outcomes in line with agency goals and objectives.
• Implement change and promote a culture of continuous improvement across the Branch.
• Manage a small number of employees performing diverse tasks
• Plan and monitor work processes, direct and coordinate quality assurance practices and set performance indicators and adjusting plans to meet changing demands.
• Undertake complex work activities with an awareness of their possible impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for the Agency.
• Responsible for communication and engagement with stakeholders across the healthcare sector.
• Work with extended project delivery teams in a highly matrixed organisation to track progress and compliance against the requirements contained in project plans; identifying any variance to the project plan requirements.
• Work with a level of independence, under broad direction, to provide project management guidance based on established Agency project priorities, frameworks and methodologies with a concurrent need to resolve issues and deliver quality outcomes.
• Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, anticipating and responding to their needs ensuring stakeholder expectations are clearly articulated, documented and understood by the project delivery team to achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation.

To be successful you will need :

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and / or industry experience in one or more of the following areas :
• Medication management solutions;
• Pathology;
• Diagnostic imaging.
• Aged care; or
• Allied health, Training, Education and Change Management
