A merit list or pool is valid for up to 18 months and may be used to fill other vacancies across Australia.For more details, visit the APSC's website on the APS Merit Principle.About the AEC's Communication and Campaigns SectionThe section is part of the Communication, Education, and Engagement Branch, responsible for informing the public about voting processes and encouraging participation, including supporting those who face barriers.

It covers electoral education, strategic communication, campaigns, community engagement, Indigenous electoral participation, and design.The section comprises three teams that handle federal election advertising campaigns, produce design materials, and manage internal communications.Key Duties of the PositionThe Design Communication Manager leads a small team providing graphic design services, ensuring adherence to the AEC's branding and client needs.As part of the leadership team, the manager participates in planning and aligns activities with agency goals.The role involves managing complex work, utilizing expertise in graphic design and production, and delivering high-quality, user-centered design services across the AEC.

The manager works with stakeholders, maintains visual identity standards, and oversees projects from concept to delivery.Additional responsibilities include providing strategic visual advice, contributing to doctrine and election readiness, and ensuring compliance with legislation and governance.Ideal candidates will have : Strong creative and design skills with knowledge of contemporary standards.Leadership skills to manage workflow and priorities.A digital design portfolio demonstrating print and digital work.Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and understanding of web design.Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences, including senior management.High integrity, accuracy, and impartiality.Experience managing staff and developing capabilities.Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities.Exceptional written and oral communication skills.Qualifications in visual communication, design, or related fields.Knowledge of Australian federal electoral laws and frameworks.Australian citizenship is mandatory.Active political involvement may compromise neutrality.Consent to character and security clearances is required.RecruitAbility applies to this vacancy.
