Challis Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced Psychiatrist Consultant for our Perth region-based client who is seeking an experienced Specialist to join their Mental Health Team.

FAST FACTS The cosmopolitan city, just two hours' drive south of Perth IMGs welcome to apply Fixed term Full time for 5 years Salary between $354,487 - $451,677 pa THE ROLE The hospital is currently seeking to appoint a Consultant - Psychiatrist for our Mental Health Department.

In this role you will be accountable for the clinical management of patients (including families and carers) of the Mental Health Service as a member of the multidisciplinary team. You will also provide clinical services primarily to the Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU), at the Hospital, and to the whole region as required I agreement with the Clinical Director and Regional Mental Health Manger. Supervises work of junior medical staff.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES Undertakes the duties of a Consultant Psychiatrist as specified in the WA Mental Health Act 2014. Assumes accountability for the clinical care provided to consumers admitted under their care. When providing direct treatment, assesses, diagnoses and manages the care of individuals' mental illness, associated comorbid physical disorders, and psychosocial needs. Assesses and manages risk. Conducts regular clinical reviews of the consumers under their care. Involves consumers and carers in planning their individual care. Maintains timely, detailed and legible patient records. Actively participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), and actively promotes MDT working within the service. Ensures familiarity with, and works within, relevant legislation and policy. Liaises and consults with colleagues and relevant external agencies regarding client Ensures safe handover of care on discharge from the unit. Holds overall responsibility for the timely and accurate completion of medical discharge summaries within the set timescales. Collaborates with and advises the Clinical Director on clinical and organisational governance issues affecting the unit. Advises and assists with new referrals, including emergencies, as required, including supporting the psychiatric liaison service if required. Provides cover for consultant colleagues for short term or unplanned leave. Undertakes clinical shifts at the direction of the Head of Department, including participation in the after-hours and weekend on call roster as rostered. The Location The cosmopolitan city, just two hours' drive south of Perth, is located on a spectacular peninsular surrounded by the crystal clear blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Fields of orchard trees in blossom, wildflowers, vineyards, forests, national parks, beautiful waterways, historic towns, a wealth of art and craft, are just part of the experience. A bird's-eye view of the compact city can be obtained from many lookout points or for the adventurous by an aerial tour in a micro flight.
