About Them

We are partnering with a well-established organisation in the essential services sector to appoint a capable and experienced Workforce Planning Specialist to join their People & Culture function. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, with potential for permanency, and offers exposure to national-level workforce planning across diverse projects and business units.

This role plays a key part in ensuring project teams are adequately resourced and future workforce needs are proactively forecasted.

About the Role

This position sits within a high-performing HR Operations team and is responsible for workforce forecasting, contractor planning, and resourcing strategy across a large-scale, multi-disciplinary organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with senior project leaders, People & Culture stakeholders, and the Talent Acquisition team to deliver accurate, data-driven workforce insights aligned to operational and strategic needs.

  • Lead short- and medium-term contractor forecasting across national projects
  • Partner with Project Directors and Talent Acquisition to identify and address workforce gaps
  • Analyse large datasets to provide resourcing insights and inform project planning
  • Utilising dashboards,  creating reports and visualisation packs using Power BI and Excel
  • Contribute to long and short term strategic workforce planning initiatives
  • Support continuous improvement of workforce planning tools, templates, and processes
  • Provide regular reporting on headcount planning, diversity, and contractor utilisation

About You

The successful candidate will be a confident communicator and critical thinker, able to operate across both strategic and operational levels. Key attributes include :

  • Demonstrated experience in workforce forecasting and operational resource planning, within a HR / People capacity
  • Strong data analytics capability, with advanced Excel and Power BI
  • Understanding of HR or Talent Acquisition functions and safety-led workplace cultures
  • Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to build credible relationships with senior stakeholders and project teams
  • Previous exposure to both blue and white collar workforce environments preferred
  • Experience in project-based resourcing (e.g. infrastructure, energy, government, or utilities) highly regarded
  • Workday experience desirable, though not essential
