Your new role

As a pivotal member of the Finance Team, you will be instrumental in assisting with transactional accounting, ensuring the robustness of reporting and analysis, including consolidating and preparing all internal and external reporting obligations across multiple projects.

You will play a significant role in maintaining accounting functions, project analysis and adjustments, investigating cost variances, forecasts, and ensuring accuracy. You will work with the Finance and Project teams to maintain the Project budget baseline and manage all cost reporting and baseline changes.

You will contribute to continuous improvement, change management, and automation of financial processes, maintain controls, and support ad-hoc requests.

In detail

  • Deliver cost control across the full project lifecycle including planning, estimating, budgeting, and cost forecasting.
  • Support monthly cost reporting, forecasting meetings, and WBS setup including project Earned Value Management.
  • Monitor and analyse project expenditure, invoices, and supplier claims, working closely with schedulers and project team members. This includes overseeing cost code and resource booking processes to support accurate cost capture and preparation of customer invoices.
  • Provide business / financial analysis and decision support that allows management to evaluate alternatives, make fact-based decisions, and consider the consequences of decisions.
  • Ensure timely input of data into systems, including correct capture and reflection of project budgets in the GL.
  • Work closely with delivery teams and contractors to provide timely financial insights.

What you'll need to succeed

This role is suited for someone with experience in a similar position, delivering robust financial information accurately and on time. You are a strong communicator, detail-oriented, with high analytical skills, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data manipulation.

  • Professional, motivated, and effective team member capable of demonstrating leadership qualities.
  • Prior experience in a project cost control or financial-focused role is highly regarded.
  • Ability to prepare project cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
  • Excellent time management skills, shows initiative, with good communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Able to work well under pressure in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and procedural mindset.
