I help lawyers across in-house, government and private practice find their ideal role in Brisbane | Former lawyer | One of the founding Partners at…The Department : The Commercial Law Group (CLG) sits within the In-house Legal team and advises on a range of commercial matters delivering on priorities including regional infrastructure development, innovation and technology in manufacturing, resource and energy management and sustainability across three departments :

Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development;Department of Primary Industries; andDepartment of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation.About the Role : As a Principal Lawyer within the CLG team, you will play a key advisory role across a wide range of commercial and contractual issues. Your role will be broad and include commercial contracts, real property, intellectual property, IT / data risk, and State land and tenure issues. You'll work closely with business units, executives, Crown Law and external providers, while being a senior member of the team, mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to legal precedents and systems improvement. This role offers you the opportunity to :

provide independent commercial legal advice to senior stakeholders up to Director-General and Ministerial level;lead matters independently, managing competing priorities on complex, interesting work;contribute to legal innovation through continuous improvement of contracts and processes; andguide, mentor and supervise junior lawyers and collaborate across the team.Skills / Experience : To be successful in this role, you will have :

5+ years PAE and be admitted (or immediately eligible) to practise in Queensland;demonstrated experience across commercial and contract law experience. As described, the role is broad so you may be coming from a commercial / corporate, energy / resources, IP / IT / data or complex property background;strong stakeholder management and communication skills; andthe confidence to run your files and provide leadership to more junior members of the team.Awaiting you in this role is :
