    The Opportunity

    As an Associate Director (Archaeology) in the Perth Heritage team you will demonstrate an expert understanding of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage principles in practice, with an ability to establish a small team providing advice to a diverse client profile on a range of projects including historic and Aboriginal archaeology. You will possess the ability to undertake / lead field work relating to archaeological excavations, Aboriginal heritage surveys and the ability to prepare high quality archaeological assessments, Cultural Heritage Management Plans, Due Diligence Assessments and Heritage Interpretation Plans.

    • You will
    • The ability to undertake both historic and Aboriginal archaeology, but particular expertise in either is desirable.
    • A working understanding of the DPLH ACHKnowledge system in relation to approvals and locating places of aboriginal significance.
    • Ability to undertake / lead fieldwork - including under the Consultation Requirements of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972
    • Ability to advise clients on compliance with relevant obligations / commitments under Native Title agreements in relation to Native Titles Act 1993
    • Ability to advise on environmental impact assessment (EIA) process for Social Surroundings - Aboriginal cultural heritage (ACH) under the Environmental Protection Act 1986
    • About You
    • Minimum of 8 years' experience in the Heritage industry.
    • Tertiary qualification in archaeology is essential
    • Desirable qualifications include history, social impact assessment, cultural heritage management and anthropology
    • Proven experience delivering Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Survey Reports, Archaeological Management Plans and Strategies, Aboriginal Heritage Due Diligence Assessments and Cultural Heritage Management Plans
    • Considerable understanding of the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC) 1999 where it relates to the management of cultural heritage.
    • Considerable experience engaging with Aboriginal Parties in the South West, Wheatbelt and North West of Western Australia
