Job description

Victim Support ACT is seeking Expressions of Interest for the role of Adviser : Sexual Assault Prevention and Response. This role is available on a full-time basis for six months at the ASO6 level. Multiple positions may be available.

Victim Support ACT undertakes a significant volume of work with community members who have been impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence. In 2021, the ACT Government was presented with the 'Listen. Take Action to Prevent, Believe and Heal' report ('the SAPR report') by the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Steering Committee. The report has 24 recommendations, calling on the ACT Government to implement a long-term sexual violence prevention strategy and to reform many parts of the ACT's frontline and legal response system. As a member of the Steering Committee, the Victims of Crime Commissioner (the VOCC) had a key role in ensuring the report incorporated the views of victim-survivors with lived experience of sexual violence, and considered the many systemic failures identified by sexual assault survivors in their communication to the VOCC over recent years.

The Adviser : Sexual Assault Prevention and Reform will perform a diverse range of functions with guidance from the Senior Adviser : Sexual Assault Prevention and the Manager, Victim Rights and Reform.
