Job description

Delta Portfolios launches in July 2025, as Australia's premier Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) provider. Formed through the combination of two established and respected investment consulting firms—Delta Research & Advisory and Farrelly Investment Strategy—Delta Portfolios brings together deep data expertise and dynamic, forward-looking asset allocation capabilities. As an Investment Analyst, you will work closely with the co-Chief Investment Officers to deliver investment solutions to wealth management firms in the rapidly growing OCIO market. Our mission is to empower financial planners, enabling them to remain actively involved in the portfolio design process for their clients while benefiting from our expertise and resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth quantitative research and analysis of markets, securities, and economic trends using advanced mathematical methods and Excel modelling.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance financial models to assess asset valuations, risk, and performance across various investment vehicles.
  • Prepare clear, insightful monthly reports for our financial planner clients, translating complex data into actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Investment Officer and Chief Investment Strategist to support portfolio construction, rebalancing, and investment strategy development.
  • Monitor macroeconomic indicators, industry news, and regulatory changes to identify risks and opportunities for client portfolios.
  • Engage with financial planner clients to understand their needs, present research findings, and support their involvement in the portfolio design process.
  • Over time, present investment strategies and results directly to clients, both in written and verbal formats, ensuring clarity and professionalism.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong quantitative skills : proficiency in mathematics, statistics, and advanced Excel modelling.
  • Excellent qualitative skills : ability to write clear, concise reports and communicate complex ideas to non-technical audiences.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail in both analysis and communication.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements, economic data, and market trends to inform investment decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with both internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Adaptability and eagerness to learn in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field; progress toward CFA, PhD or similar qualifications is an advantage.
  • You should either be enrolled or about to gain your CIMA qualification.
  • Reporting Structure

  • You will be reporting and located with the Managing Director of Delta Portfolios; however, all your work will relate to the CIO function.
  • Location Delta Portfolios is the result of a strategic merger between Delta Research & Advisory—one of Australia's leading quantitative investment research firms—and Farrelly Investment Strategy, the country's first independent, specialist asset allocation research service for investment advisory firms. As an Investment Analyst, you will play a central role in supporting our mission to deliver sophisticated investment management while empowering financial planners to remain engaged in the portfolio construction process for their clients.
