Senior Data Engineer

Aspirante is working with a local government organisation, to assist in their search for a Senior Data Engineer to join a high-performing Agile delivery team working on a high-impact data digitisation initiative. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a national-scale transformation project, focused on unlocking complex data and streamlining digital services for key industry stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Design and implement performant, scalable data migration solutions across multiple data sources. Collaborate within a SCRUM team to deliver milestones in a large-scale digitisation project. Lead and mentor fellow data engineers in technical best practices and modern engineering principles. Interpret complex business requirements and translate them into high-quality technical solutions. Drive continuous improvement through automation, testing, and CI / CD pipelines. Investigate, document, and resolve operational incidents and risks proactively. Engage in stakeholder workshops, feasibility studies, and system demonstrations. Skills and Experience 8+ years of experience in data engineering roles, with a strong focus on data migration projects. Proficiency with ETL / ELT tools and pipelines, including strong experience with RDBMS systems. Deep understanding of data modelling, schema design, and normalization concepts. Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and modern DevOps pipelines (CI / CD). Proficient in one or more of : Java, Python, R, DAX, Power Query M. Experience applying AI techniques to streamline data processes (highly regarded). Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
