The Plant Biosecurity and Product Integrity (PBPI) Program plays an integral role in delivering BQ's vision of leading innovative, customer-focused biosecurity services for Queensland. The program aims to protect Queensland's agricultural industries, environment, and communities from plant pests and diseases, and to facilitate trade in high-quality, safe agricultural products.

As our Senior Principal Scientist, you will actively manage and lead state-wide plant pest surveillance, control, and containment activities. You will provide timely, consistent, and comprehensive reports to managers, other agencies, and stakeholders. Given Queensland's high rate of biosecurity incursions, your efforts will be crucial in helping the government prevent, respond to, and recover from biosecurity threats that impact our environment and economy.

Success in this role will be demonstrated by : Leading the development and implementation of legislative and regulatory frameworks supporting plant pest surveillance, control, and containment. Driving effective stakeholder relationships and supporting team effectiveness through communication and liaison at national, state, and local levels to promote and adopt new scientific ideas and practices, facilitating strategic biosecurity outcomes. Representing the Plant Biosecurity and Product Integrity Program at departmental, state, and national forums related to plant biosecurity in Australia. Fostering staff, program, and organizational policy development via performance management, coaching, and mentoring. All Biosecurity Queensland positions require a criminal history check.
