Role Purpose
To lead site operations in utilities and groundworks projects, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity are maintained to the highest standards. This role is crucial in managing daily activities and supervising teams involved in water, cabling, and general utility works.
Key Responsibilities
Site Management & Operations
- Report operational or design issues to the Contracts Manager.
- Conduct on-site risk assessments and implement safety provisions.
- Oversee site safety setup including signage, guarding, shoring, PPE, etc.
- Supervise use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Ensure safe working practices near buried utilities and in variable weather and ground conditions.
- Manage site diaries and record-keeping accurately.
- Organise labour, plant, and materials for operational efficiency.
- Plan works and allocate manpower effectively.
- Liaise regularly with Contracts Manager and wider project teams.
- Order materials and collect site variations.
- Deliver toolbox talks and attend team briefings.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
Prioritise the safety of pedestrians and especially consider the needs of disabled individuals.Ensure all activities comply with safety protocols and environmental best practices.Lead by example in safe working procedures and support a safety-first culture on-site.Essential
Qualifications & Experience
CSCS CardProven experience in utilities and groundworks.Strong background in water or cabling works.Experience leading site teams in a foreman or ganger capacity.Solid understanding of health and safety procedures.Ability to plan and manage work efficiently.Desirable
