Your new roleIn this position you will support the provision of our Health & Safety (H&S) initiatives and play a key role in revamping the faculty's H&S management system. Collaborating closely with the Faculty H&S Specialist and the Curtin H&S team, you'll be instrumental in retraining staff, refreshing documents, and overhauling current processes to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation across all schools and disciplines within the faculty. Working within a complex environment, you can expect no two days to be the same, allowing you to engage in diverse projects and activities, including those outside your primary area of expertise.
To be successful in the role you will need to :
Be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work independently.Have qualifications and / or equivalent experience (or a combination of both) health and safety management and project management (desirable).Have strong critical thinking skills to assess complex activities and implement effective solutions.Familiarity with laboratory and fieldwork safety protocols, and / or previous experience in a tertiary environment is a plus.Key responsibilities of the role include (but won't be limited to)Evaluating and assessing work activities, including laboratory and fieldwork.Preparing essential health and safety documentation tailored to specific teaching and research activities.Lead health and safety training sessions for staff and students and refresh existing processes to enhance faculty safety practices.Actively visit and collaborate with various teams, facilities and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with health and safety obligations, best practices and relevant legislation.Please note you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role to be considered.
