Teacher Aide - West Moreton Education And Training

The West Moreton Education and Training Centre is a co-educational school that delivers educational programs for up to 32 remanded and sentenced young people at the West Moreton Youth Detention Centre located in Wacol. The West Moreton Education and Training Centre is a stand-alone campus of the Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre. The centre operates on a 1 : 4 teacher-student ratio delivering a predominantly vocational curriculum.

Our staff are passionate about helping improve our students' knowledge, skills and abilities, many of whom have had disrupted or negative schooling experiences and often have lived through complex trauma and disadvantage.

• About the Role

We are looking for competent all-rounders who can work across multiple disciplines. The successful applicant will work under the direction of the teacher to assist in the classroom and support and encourage students in their learning.

The role of a teacher aide is incredibly varied, and you may be asked to provide specialist support in areas such as :

• Language and culture for Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander students
• Specific learning needs
• Students with a disability
• Behaviour
• English as a second language
• Health and Physical education
• A mandatory requirement of this role is
• In accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 a person is prohibited from working in regulated child-related employment unless the person holds a current Working with Children Check clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
