2024 Sourcr Best Recruiter WA - IT / Telecommunications | Senior Consultant - Applications at Verse GroupAbout the Role A hands-on and strategic Engineering Manager is sought to lead and grow a high-performing software engineering team for a Perth-based product company. As the business moves into a scale-up phase, this is a key leadership role reporting into the Head of Engineering and sitting within the broader strategy team.

You'll lead a cross-functional team across backend, frontend, and machine learning, driving execution, architecture decisions, and engineering standards, while still being close to the code when needed.

This is a full-time, hybrid position with flexibility – including one in-office day on Wednesdays with team lunch and optional social events.

You Should Have At least 3 years' experience in Engineering Manager or similar leadership rolesStrong full stack engineering background across Python, TypeScript, React, Docker, and ideally C++Experience hiring, mentoring, and growing teams of 5+ engineersBackground working in product-focused teamsConfidence in architecture, system design, and technical decision-makingA collaborative approach with a passion for developing people and cultureNice to Have Exposure to GPUs, NVIDIA CUDA, GStreamerInterest in AI / ML or computer vision (experience not essential)Key Responsibilities Lead, support, and scale a growing engineering team (currently 6, soon to be 8+)Work with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver on core initiativesOwn architecture and code quality across systemsStay hands-on where needed – from design to bug-fixing and reviewsContribute to shaping engineering culture and future R&D effortsThe Benefits $180k + Super ($190k + Super for the right person)Stock options includedFlexible working hours and supportive cultureMission-led product with real-world impactSocial team with a good vibe and collaborative working styleRegular team events and travel opportunitiesHow to Apply If this opportunity resonates with you, please apply.
