About the RoleRema Tip Top is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter who will be responsible for the
maintenance, fitting, and servicing of mechanical componentswith a specialisation inconveyor systems and related equipmentBased in the Welshpool workshop and sales office, the role also includessite-based worksupporting client installations and breakdowns.Key ResponsibilitiesMechanical Fitting & MaintenanceAssemble, install, maintain, and repair conveyor and scraper systemsConduct diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical faultsPerform workshop fabrication, machining, and welding as requiredUse hand and power tools, workshop machines, and interpret technical drawingsEnsure all work complies with health and safety regulationsClient Site SupportTravel to client sites to assist with installations, repairs, or auditsPerform mechanical servicing and on-site diagnosticsLiaise with clients professionally to ensure service satisfaction and system efficiencyDesign & Technical SupportAssist in the design and development of new or modified scraper componentsProvide input into the layout, fitment, and engineering function of new productsCollaborate with engineering and R&D teams on prototyping and testingSales & Customer SupportProvide technical guidance to the sales team during quoting or solution developmentJoin customer meetings to help scope projects and recommend system improvementsSupport internal sales documentation by reviewing specifications and drawingsSkills & ExperienceEssentialTrade-qualified Mechanical Fitter (or equivalent)Strong experience with mechanical assembly, maintenance, and fault findingAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentsCompetency in workshop tools, machines, and fabrication processesExcellent communication skills with both internal teams and external clientsAbility to work independently and in a team across workshop and field environmentsDesirablePrevious experience working on conveyor belt scrapers and material handling equipmentExposure to product design or drafting (CAD skills advantageous)Prior involvement in technical sales or customer-facing rolesCurrent driver's licence; willingness to travel to client sitesWork Environment & ConditionsBased at the Welshpool workshop with regular fieldwork at customer locationsExposure to industrial environments (e.g., mining, quarrying, bulk materials handling)Required to wear appropriate PPE and adhere to workplace safety protocolsOccasional after-hours or weekend work depending on customer needsPerformance IndicatorsQuality and timeliness of mechanical work (both workshop and on-site)Accuracy and usefulness of technical input in design and sales processesPositive feedback from internal stakeholders and external clientsAdherence to company safety, quality, and procedural standardsReady to Take the Next Step?ClickAPPLY NOWto join REMA Tip Top today.
