Project Lead - Renewable Energy - This role will be the primary lead for operational and under-construction renewable generation and storage assets in Australia. As Project Lead you will support new investments and development in the Australian renewable energy market. Financial literacy, broad knowledge of energy markets, and experience managing electricity or renewable assets in Australia are essential. The role's key responsibilities include ensuring operational excellence, optimizing financial returns, prioritizing safety, and maintaining regulatory integrity. This position represents the company externally and focuses primarily on the Australian renewable energy landscape.
ResponsibilitiesManage operational and under-construction renewable generation and storage projects in Australia.Oversee the Engineering Lead for Renewable Energy and guide the Commercial Lead and Energy Analyst.Represent the Owner as it pertains to third-party contracted Asset and O&M Management.Support the assessment of the technical and operational viability of new projects and acquisition opportunities.Coordinate the development of asset reports, financial models, and investment cases.Provide asset construction, operational, and asset management advice.Responsible for the operational and capital expenditures associated with owned assets.Operational and financial reporting and compliance.Management of asset contracting and procurement activities.Owner of asset EHS plans and performance, risk registers, and technology plans.Responsibility for developing in-house capability and resources.Engagement with external stakeholders.About YouDegree qualified in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, civil, or renewable energy).Master of Business Administration will be highly regarded.Minimum of 7 years of experience managing the operation of utility-scale renewable generation, storage, electricity network, or transmission assets.Experience in constructing and operating large-scale electricity generation or transmission and distribution assets.Demonstrable operational EHSQ, process safety, and risk management experience in utility-scale electricity generation. Extensive knowledge of applicable legislation and regulation.An extensive background in capital-intensive project development, contracting & procurement, and construction in Australia will be valuable to this role.Financially literate and commercially savvy.Demonstrable capability to communicate verbally and in written form (presentations and documents) that are coherent, rational, and often to non-technical, non-commercial laypersons without market or industry familiarity.Demonstrated experience of managing the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy generation and electricity assets in Australia.A broad, deep understanding and working knowledge of the electricity market, and operational and commercial landscape across at least one of, if not both, the National Electricity Market (NEM) and the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM).The ability to work independently and collaboratively with a geographically diverse team will be essential as is the ability to work effectively and virtually while being adaptive to conflicting time zones is essential.
