We are seeking expressions of interest from Speech Pathologists who wish to be considered for casual Practice Educator (PE) roles within the Discipline of Speech Pathology at La Trobe University. We are seeking to develop a bank of casual staff members to support clinical placements for students studying in our Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Hons) and Master of Speech Pathology courses.
Placements occur at both the La Trobe Communication Clinic (LCC) and Residential Aged Care Facilities across Melbourne. These clinics are student-led, providing progressive scaffolding of student skills in speech pathology from novice to entry level students, interlinking with academic subjects and enabling students to confidently attend external placements.
Clinicians will work with groups of students to provide evidence-based speech pathology services to children presenting with speech and language delay / disorder and / or adults presenting with communication and swallowing disorders (depending on the placement subject).
Orientation to the LCC or the placement and the student program will be provided prior to the commencement of placement.
Clinicians will be required to attend the LCC (Bundoora) or aged care setting weekly on the specified clinic day / s and support students' preparation for clinic remotely between sessions.
