The primary responsibility of this role is to manage the company's finances with Xero. You will be responsible for ensuring that all financial data is entered correctly into Xero, including processing invoices, tracking expenses, and reconciling accounts. Your experience with Xero will be vital in maintaining accurate records and ensuring that all transactions are recorded accurately. Additionally, you will support the team by troubleshooting any issues within the software and ensuring the system is utilised effectively.
A significant portion of your role will involve processing timesheets and payroll. You will be expected to review and process employee timesheets, ensuring that hours worked are correctly recorded. You will manage the payroll process, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time. This includes calculating wages, managing deductions, and ensuring compliance with tax and superannuation regulations. Timeliness and accuracy in payroll processing will be key to your success in this role.
BAS processing is essential part of your responsibilities. You will be required to prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) in compliance with Australian tax laws. Your understanding of GST, PAYG, and other tax obligations will ensure the timely and accurate submission of these reports. You will also be tasked with ensuring that the company's tax obligations are met, providing a critical role in maintaining financial compliance.
Your ability to read and understand financial reports will also be essential in this position. You will be required to interpret key financial documents such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Using your analytical skills, you will assist the management team understand the company's financial position, offering insights into performance and advising on areas that need attention or improvement.
Additionally, you will be responsible for bank reconciliation. Which involves ensuring that the company's records align with bank statements, identifying discrepancies, and resolving any issues. Your attention to detail and organisational skills will be crucial when conducting bank reconciliations and ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
This role requires someone who is flexible and willing to adapt to changing priorities. As a key member of the finance team, you may be required to assist with other financial tasks as needed, including audits, reporting, or assisting with special projects. Your ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain flexibility in a busy environment will contribute to the smooth running of the financial department.
