Substations Project Engineer

Project Overview Genus has been awarded a landmark contract by Western Power for the Clean Energy Link – North Region project. The project will include new 330kV & 132kV terminal builds within the existing network footprint to significantly increase transmission capacity and enable new energy sources to come online, as well as existing line conversions and reinforcement work to significantly improve the flow of renewable energy to and from the area.

The Role

We're looking for a skilled and driven Project Engineer with substations experience to join our team, working on the construction of power systems and large-scale electrical infrastructure. This role will require you to take technical responsibility, execute the design and construction management of electrical engineering projects. This position involves working closely with the design team, clients and vendors to ensure the clients requirements and specifications are met during the delivery of the project ensuring delivery on time, within budget while assuring safety and quality.

The Role We're looking for a skilled and driven Project Engineer with substations experience to join our team, working on the construction of power systems and large-scale electrical infrastructure. This position involves working closely with the design team, clients and vendors to ensure the clients requirements and specifications are met during the delivery of the project ensuring delivery on time, within budget while assuring safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Review design drawings, specifications, and technical reports, procurement and execution of substation projects ranging from 6.6kV to 500kV.
• Develop ITPs / ITRs and work packs for electrical installation work packages.
• Manage and co-ordinate the revision control of the design drawings on site, including document registers, design information requirements for sub-contractors, request for information,
• Prepare mark-ups / as-built drawings, site instructions, and liaising with design team,
• Report back to the lead electrical engineer,
• Work cross-functionally with civil, electrical, and control teams to ensure cohesive installation.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry standards (IEEE, IEC) and utility regulations.
• Support project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
• Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and utility partners throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance during construction, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges in the field.
• Develop strong stakeholder relationships, maintaining a high standard for safety and compliance for construction activities, minimising delay, inconvenience and impact for any affected stakeholders and the environment.
