Program Overview Bama Dakil(Diversionary Centre)provides a safe and culturally appropriate place for people affected by alcohol to sober up. Supports provided include the provision of food (nutritionally balanced diet) and water, showering and laundry facilities, clean clothes, basic first aid if necessary and a sleeping area where clients are closely monitored. Support is also offered where needed to ensure clients' wellbeing whilst staying at the Centre. Assistance is provided to those who are too intoxicated to meet their basic needs unaided.
To Be Successful You Will Need A high level of commitment to the values of Anglicare North Queensland.Prior experience assisting and encouraging clients toreachpersonal goals and positive outcomes.Ability to handle crisis situations and challenging behaviors.Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures including food hygiene and manual handling.Strong understanding and practice of professional boundaries.Awareness and / or experience working with people experiencing mental health challenges will be highly regarded.Awareness and / or experience working with people experiencing alcohol and other drug challenges.Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities will be highly regarded.Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds will be highly regarded.Compliance A current QLD drivers licence 'Class C' or interstate equivalentBlue Card (Working with children card)A current national PoliceCheck (within the last 3 months)Current First Aid & CPR CertificationsWhat We Can Offer You Competitive hourly rateSCHADS Award Level 1Casual (Increments negotiable depending on experience)Access to a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Access to a large variety of discounts through our HRIS benefitsDiversity and inclusivity are important to Anglicare NQ and we are committed to ensuring our workplace and services reflect this.
