Detail Technician_accepts a great deal of responsibility in consistently performing his / her duties to the company's standards of quality. He / she is responsible for all repairs assigned and listed on the repair order. A polite and courteous attitude is necessary when dealing with customers; additionally, it is imperative that this technician possesses a good work attitude and fosters a positive team spirit both within the department as well as between the other departments. The Detail Technician must always strive to improve quality and productivity of work maintaining our "detailing work standard".Alternate Job TitlesIt is not uncommon to have different titles for the same job function. Common titles used for this position includes : Quality inspector.
The main differences are the level of responsibility for each of the below duties.
- Duties
The Detail Technician must be meticulous and thorough in the quality of their work. He / she must be able to read and understand every aspect of a work order to ensure proper repair on the damaged vehicle.
A Detail Technician is responsible for every work order they are assigned. Tasks a Detail Technician will perform include :
- Inspecting freshly-painted surfaces
- Removing any left over masking supplies, paper, tape or other materials on vehicle
- Checking for and verifying removal of all over spray
- Installing all trim and cosmetic parts eg wheel trims, headlamp covers
- Cleaning all interior and exterior of vehicle
- Inspecting vehicle after painting, for repair and refinish
- Polishing and buffing new and old paint as called upon
- Pulling appropriate vehicles in at night for security purposes
- Working closely with and taking direct supervision from the Production Manager
- Being responsible for all repairs assigned to you and listed on the work order
- Completing the repairs in a quality manner, following company detailing procedures
- Being meticulous and thorough in performing the "Final Get Ready" on the vehicle
- Maintaining the final quality of our final delivered product to the highest standards at all times
- Reading and understanding the "Work Order" from top to bottom and visually inspect every vehicle to insure that all the repairs listed are complete and paperwork signed.
- Participating in company meetings as scheduled.
