Based at a confidential location in the Scenic Rim, the Women and Family Advocate – Housing provides practical support and interventions to women and children as they transition from Refuge into longer term, safe and sustainable accommodation in the community.

Our Domestic and Family Violence Refuge is a welcoming haven for women and their children who have experienced the trauma of domestic / family violence. All refuge staff work towards assisting families to regain independence & safety following domestic and family violence.

Your role will include :

• practical support and interventions to increase client’s safety and wellbeing during and post refuge
• working through the lens of a multi-level practice framework in collaboration with the refuge team
• risk assessment to identify and respond to identified risks and needs
• support women to address barriers to housing and advocating on behalf of women with key stakeholders including housing providers and tribunals
• assist families to exit temporary accommodation, establish and independently sustain tenancies
• apply theoretical knowledge in domestic violence, parenting, attachment and trauma informed care

This position participates in the on-call and Saturday roster.
