Stable Hand - South Coast NSWLarge animal careLocated in Bawley PointFull time PositionWorking with the Stock Horse Manager, you will be assisting with all aspects of Equine care and upkeep, including maintenance of all equipment. Maintenance and cleaning duties are a daily task at a leading Australian facility.
We are seeking people with a genuine love of animals, passionate stable hands that can take responsibility of the animals as if they are your own, whilst adhering to the strict requirements of each individual animal. Previous experience in a support role in animal care and operations is a huge advantage, though not a specific requirement.
And as a huge bonus, working at a large purpose built property on the South Coast of NSW, doesn't mean you have to live in the middle of the country! Enjoy coastal living in the nearby regional town - it's only a thirty minute drive away.
- Stable Hands are responsible for ensuring the following tasks are carried out;
- Grooming, feeding, handling, stabling and exercising of the horses
- Cleaning, care and maintenance of stables and associated training equipment like rugs, rug rooms, vehicles
- The caring of and leading of horses
- Monitoring horses for health and soundness.
- Help with breeding and foaling and helping with problematic animals.
- Assisting the vet and farrier by holding the horses.
- Under the direction of the Property Veterinarian and Stock Horse Manager, administration of prescribed medications and general first aid.
- Perform general industry duties as directed by management.
- Including general labouring, cleaning, minor maintenance duties incidental or peripheral to cleaning, ordering supplies, receiving deliveries and basic clerical work.
- Organise, saddle and tie up horse for trainers, wash down, re-rug and return to paddocks after exercise.
- Place and monitor horse in the horse walker, retrieve and retire horses to yards.
- Ensure all yards and paddocks are free from any timber or obstacles.
