Job descriptionAbout the Opportunity Workplace Health & Safety Coordinator to join our Quality Team on a Permanent Full Time basis, based at our modern Head Office Clayfield You will Perform WH&S functions under the national Workplace Health and Safety Act & Regulations to assist Qscan Group to fulfill its legal obligations. Maintain a sound understanding of national & state by state WH&S laws / regulations and present changes / updates to the law / regulations to management and staff as required. Ensure appropriate WH&S systems, policies and procedures are developed, updated, and maintained with a focus on continuous quality improvement. Provide regular reports, advice and assistance to the Board, executives, management teams, and staff in relation to WH&S in the workplace. Mitigate risk through the promotion of injury prevention and management. Visit clinics as required and assist staff with completion of safety audits in line with internal audit schedule. Promote WH&S as a cultural value through the business and engage all managers and employees to embrace WH&S standards, policies, and procedures (including chairing the Group WHS committee). Engage in hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control activities, providing recommendations. Maintain fire safety and emergency management planning. About You Well-developed interpersonal skills and warm and friendly demeanour Excellent written and verbal communication skills The ability to problem-solve and think on your feet High-level organisational and time management skills The ability to work with a diverse group of healthcare staff to implement WH&S performance and improvement strategies Experience in developing relevant policies, procedures, and documents, e.g., SWMS, risk assessments. Ability to identify safety issues and prepare a comprehensive plan to achieve safety goals. Ability to investigate accidents and incidents and make recommendations for preventative action. An unrestricted Driver's licence. The ability to negotiate and effectively influence. Proficient computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Programs (Advanced Word, Excel, Outlook) and working with databases and other programs (i.e., SharePoint). This role is responsible for managing the workplace health and safety portfolio across the Qscan Group, including developing, implementing, and reviewing WH&S policies. You will report to the Safety & Quality Manager, working within a friendly and close-knit team. The main functions that sit across this department include; accreditations, audits, incident management, reporting, radiation safety, workplace health and safety and clinical governance.
Alongside your qualification or equivalent experience in WH&S, you will have at least 3 years' experience in a similar role, sound knowledge of the WH&S Act, regulations and codes of practice, and a passion for promoting WH&S principles within an organisation.
