About Us : The Strathbogie Shire is a vibrant and progressive rural municipality located about two hours from the Melbourne CBD along the Hume Highway. We have diverse and picturesque communities served by townships such as Euroa, Nagambie, Violet Town, Avenel, Longwood, Ruffy and Strathbogie.
About the Role : The Geospatial Analyst develops, administers, maintains, and updates Council's internal, along with the public facing Geographic Information System to ensure they are performing at their optimum level.
This role also provides specialist advice to business units in the reporting requirements relevant to the implementation of spatial data and technologies and system integration.
Key Responsibilities : Ensure accuracy and currency of all GIS related data.
Promote and implement an integrated training program to teach skills in the use of GIS software, data acquisition, retrieval and analysis to meet needs.
Manage the supply and exchange of data with external agencies or consultants in accordance with the Data Supply, Property Information Project and other agreements.
Resolve all GIS / spatial systems technical and development problems.
Our ideal candidate will have : Practical knowledge of GIS and the delivery of corporate GIS services, including GPS technology and integration with other corporate applications.
Understanding of geographic and cartographic concepts related to spatial analysis, projections and processes.
Experience using MapInfo, QGIS, or another mainstream GIS.
Experience with mobile computing, mobile mapping and data collection equipment and applications.
