Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the 'Courts Group'.

The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division. The Court deals with major criminal and civil matters, plus appeals against decisions of lower courts.

About the Role As a newly created full / part-time ongoing position, the Senior Legal Policy Officer works in conjunction with the Counsel to the Chief Justice to provide support to the Chief Justice in the areas of law reform, policy, scholarship and engagement.

Duties and responsibilities include :

Providing expert legal and policy research and analysis across a broad range of legal subject matter supporting the Chief Justice's functions including engagement on law reform issues, development of internal policies, participation in national forums and public engagementPreparing high-level correspondence, submissions, briefings and other materials on policy reform, legislative developments and complex legal issuesMonitoring and analysing legislative and policy developments at a State and Federal level and provide authoritative advice on the impacts upon the Courts GroupMaintaining internal policy and reference documentsSupporting the provision of specialist legal advice within court administrationConsulting with the judiciary, respond to queries and support internal committees and working groups as requiredIdentifying emerging trends and issues and develop change management and continuous improvement strategiesAbout You Tertiary qualifications in law and admitted to practiceCurrent practicing certificate or the ability to acquire highly desirableKnowledge of the practice and procedures of the Victorian Courts and Tribunals system, highly desirableHow to apply Click the 'Apply Now' button,ensuring you include the following in your application :
