The role
Reporting to the Director Safety Policy and Assurance your role will be responsible for proactively monitoring organisational health and safety performance, current research, emerging issues and industry trends to identify and develop innovative best practice initiatives and ensure legislative and policy compliance to address key WHS risks across the health system. The role will have a particular focus on safety management and policy development, assurance and performance reporting.

The Health and Safety Unit partners with stakeholders across Queensland Health to provide strategic and statewide leadership and guidance on all matters pertaining to work health, safety and wellbeing (WHSW), including : designing policy architecture to enable and inform the delivery of operational health and safety services, workplace rehabilitation and wellbeing initiatives; provide expert advice to the organisation and operational health and safety teams on the identification and management of physical and psychosocial hazards and risks for the workplace; providing specialist advice and services to Hospital and Health Services (HHSs); monitoring, evaluation and compliance; maintaining close relationships with key partners including HR, Risk and Governance, Legal, and Patient Safety teams.
