Job description

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) are looking for a Governance Officer to join our team and provide professional administrative and secretariat in support of our Corporate Governance team.

The Role

You'll be responsible for supporting QBCC's governance bodies by undertaking advisory, administrative and secretariat activities. This will also extend to supporting the work of your colleagues in a small and tight-knit team to meet operational objectives.

The primary focus of the role is the provision of professional, confidential, customer-focused secretariat, administrative and logístical support to the committees of the Queensland Building and Construction Board, and the Service Trades Council and associated advisory bodies. You will also assist in the development and periodic review of policies and procedures relevant to the work of the unit.

About you

Due to the nature of the role you will have exceptional attention to detail and an ability to work independently. You will be comfortable engaging senior stakeholders while managing upwards effectively. Much of the work is highly visible and articulate written and verbal communication skills are important.

In addition to the above you'll also possess the following skills :

  • Demonstrated experience and ability in maintaining a consistent and strict adherence to confidentiality of information and systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite is mandatory. Prior experience using Diligent Boards or a similar platform for the conduct of Board or Committee business would be advantageous.
  • An ability to manage competing priorities and tasks in a fast paced environment.
