Reports to : Practice Manager / Clinical Co-Ordinator
- Primary Objectives
- To assist efficiently with all clinical treatment as needed
- To help support patient care goals and educates patients in dental health issues
- To provide exceptional customer service, anticipating patient's needs and care requirements
- To provide administrative support to the front office when needed
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Clinical treatment
Basic clinical chairside assisting including correct usage of suction, passing instruments and materials, mixing techniques, and knowledge of instrumentation.Possess knowledge and skills in :Advanced chairside assisting - Oral surgeryPatient comfortAnticipation and preparation2. Clean & prepare treatment room
Clean & prepare treatment room in accordance with infection control and practice protocolsPrepare treatment room for each procedure3. Patient greeting
Accompany patient into treatment roomsGreet patient by with a smile and address them by nameConvey warmth during interactions with patientsComplete patient charts accurately4. Materials
Possess a thorough and accurate working knowledge of all materials for all proceduresPrepare and deliver materials at dentist's directionAnticipate patients' needs by either reviewing patient file or appointment book or by observation of current treatment5. Contaminated instruments
Process contaminated instruments & equipment in accordance with practice protocols quickly6. X-rays
Develop, mount, label and file patients' x-rays adequately and accurately7. Supplies
Maintain an appropriate level of supplies in treatment roomMonitor and order supplies as requiredOccupational Health & SafetyAll employees are required to co-operate with the OH&S policy and program initiatives to ensure their own health and safety and the health and safety of others in the workplace.
