  • Do you have a passion for, and thorough understanding of, FOI and Privacy legislation as it relates to a Commonwealth Government agency? Have you confidently managed processes and systems within a small team responsible for achieving outcomes in these fields? If yes, we are keen to hear from you.

    The Assistant Director, Privacy & FOI is an integral member of the Governance Operations team within the Governance and Communication Group and operates with considerable independence. You will use your expertise of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) and the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act) to assist the Governance Operations Director with compliance activities related to these pieces of legislation.

    • You will have the following skills to be successful in this role
    • A thorough understanding of the legislative compliance environment and the processes and systems used to achieve positive outcomes for the agency.
    • A knowledge of the FOI and Privacy Acts, with a proven ability to exercise sound judgement and decision making in the management of complex Privacy and FOI Act matters.
    • Exceptional planning, communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills to provide expert advice in technical and operational matters, and to build and maintain key internal and external stakeholder relationships at all levels.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced commercial environment with a proven ability to achieve results and adhere to strict deadlines, while providing a high level of customer service and managing customer expectations.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing a team, including building capability within a team, particularly in a legislative compliance area, through coaching, providing performance feedback and encouraging career development.
