Ecologist

MEC Brisbane is currently accepting applications for an Ecologist to join our Brisbane-based growing team to assist with upcoming client project demands.

We are a global technical consulting firm specialising in mining services across the life cycle from early-stage exploration through development mine planning onsite management to mine closure and rehabilitation. Since 2005 MEC has grown into one of the leading consultancy firms within the mining industry supplying Environmental Mining Geotechnical & Geological services.

The Role

Ecological assessments and monitoring via fieldwork and surveys

Wildlife conservation and management

Habitat restoration and protection

Species identification and monitoring

Environmental Impact Assessments

Prepare detailed and accurate reports

Collaborate with other specialists and stakeholders on various projects

Qualifications & Experience Required :

At least 4-5 years professional experience as an Ecologist (preferred)

A contemporary knowledge of Commonwealth Queensland and Northern Territory environmental legislation

Tertiary qualification in ecological sciences or related field

Experience planning and undertaking flora and / or fauna field surveys

Exceptional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills

A high level of computer literacy report writing skills and experience with Microsoft Office package

Demonstrated analytical and statistical skills organisational skills and the ability to work within budgets and timeframes
