Initial 12-month contract + 1 x 12-month extension Attractive hourly rates on offer $$ A leading Federal Government department is looking to engage experienced Digital Accessibility Experts to support the design and delivery of inclusive digital products and systems. The successful Accessibility Experts will contribute to the development of accessible digital services and champion accessibility-first thinking across multi-disciplinary teams. These roles are based in ACT, NSW, QLD, or VIC and offer flexible hybrid working arrangements.

The successful Accessibility Experts will be responsible for, but not limited to :

Supporting researchers, developers, and designers in developing accessible digital products and systems across all product lifecycle phases.

Reviewing screen and component prototypes to identify content and visual design accessibility issues early.

Providing accurate and timely advice on digital accessibility, user behaviour, and assistive technologies.

Contributing to usability testing with people with disability, including staff and participants.

Advocating for accessibility-first design and development across the organisation.

The successful Accessibility Experts will have experience in the following :

Proven experience applying WCAG 2.1 standards to responsive web and native mobile (iOS / Android) platforms, ensuring accessibility compliance across all devices.

Strong ability to identify and resolve accessibility issues in Figma / Axure prototypes, user journeys, and front-end code , embedding accessibility from early design stages.

Deep understanding of assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, magnifiers, voice input) and how people with disability interact with digital interfaces.

Hands-on experience in accessibility validation testing , with a focus on WCAG compliance and advising cross-functional teams on inclusive design practices.
