About The Role

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join the Rail Network Renewals Engineering Team in Dampier. This role offers an opportunity to work with a dynamic team responsible for delivering Rio Tinto Rail Division's capital renewals program, including turnout renewals, level crossing renewals, plain line renewals, ballast cleaning, sleeper and rail replacements, civil earthworks, culvert extensions, road and bridge upgrades, and logistics management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from design / handover through execution to closeout, ensuring quality assurance and handback
  • Collaborate with the project team and stakeholders to deliver major track renewal works
  • Work with Project Leads & Senior Engineers on project delivery in accordance with RTIO standards
  • Lead health, safety, quality, and environmental management efforts
  • Oversee engineering activities within a heavy haul rail environment during pre-execution and execution phases
  • Manage scope, schedule, and quality of projects
  • Ensure delivery aligns with RTIO standards and procedures
  • Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Civil Engineering, Construction, or similar
  • Knowledge of engineering, construction, and design
  • Experience in large infrastructure projects
  • Logical and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project
  • Attention to detail
  • Teamwork and task prioritization abilities
  • Stakeholder relationship management skills
  • Willingness to learn
