  • How will I help?
  • Westpac Group Risk plays a critical role in identifying, monitoring, and managing a range of risks. We provide expert advice and help our business partners make informed decisions. We ensure that however or wherever we operate, we have controls and frameworks to protect our business and our customers.

    This role plays a key role in the BCM Digital and Marketing team to support the Executive Manager and Senior Manager and Managers. As a Manager in the team, you will directly contribute and enable the Digital and Marketing leaders to manage value chain processes, issues incidents and emerging risks within approved risk appetite. In addition, contribute to the provision of technical risk advice, as well as deliver on innovation and building new Digital and Marketing risk capability. It is an expectation of this role to drive a strong risk culture that embodies our ethics and integrity, balancing commercial and customer needs.

    • Key responsibilities
    • As part of a team of risk professionals contribute to ensuring the divisional and business operations and risk management practices align to the frameworks, policies, risk strategy, regulatory obligations, and appetite of the Group and Division
    • Contribute to the technical risk and compliance advice and guidance on key risk deliverables with particular focus on value chain enablement, issue and incident management, regulatory returns as well as on the strategic objectives of Digital and Marketing businesses and support standard business operation
    • Contribute and coordinate insights and reporting for risk committees, steering committees, Digital LT meetings, Digital Forums
    • Contribute to monitoring and reporting of current and emerging risks within the regulatory and digital innovation landscape across sector and industry
    • Enable timely and effective issue, incident and remediation management practices for Digital to appropriately respond to identified concerns as well as through effective advice and support
    • Contribute to risk and compliance advice for business stakeholders taking into consideration regulations, laws and customer outcomes
    • Build relationships across business partners, 1st Line counterparts, 2nd Line partners and Group Audit, including key Business SMEs to identify and enable more efficient and effective risk practices.
    • Promote a strong risk culture, awareness and ownership of risks and controls within the Digital business
    • Coach and support the business to build greater risk awareness, maturity and capability.
    • Continuously seek opportunities for uplift and continuous improvement to ensure team collective strives for best practice and optimal operating rhythm.

    • What do I need?
    • 3+ years of operational risk, compliance, assurance or Legal experience
    • Background in financial services and preferred exposure to digital or retail banking
    • Tertiary qualifications
    • Relevant industry qualifications (risk, compliance or business-related)
    • Confident stakeholder engagement skills including influencing and negotiating
    • Solid verbal and written communication
    • Quality assurance
