Job description

An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and highly motivated individual to join the Strategic Communications, Engagement and Protocol Branch as Head of First Peoples' Communications, Campaigns and Media at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

The Head of First Peoples' Communications, Campaigns and Media, reporting to Chief Communications Officer and Chief of Protocol, will lead the establishment and management of the Communication Strategy and Media team for First Peoples State Relations (FPSR) Group priorities, particularly in building awareness and understanding of Treaty-Truth-Voice in Victoria, as well as contributing to the overall management of the branch.

The role requires indepth expertise in strategic communications, integrated campaign delivery, transformation strategy and execution and offers the opportunity to showcase your strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, along with an ability to drive change.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience at a senior level in planning, project management and managing the implementation of communications programs within a large, complex environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing, managing, and mentoring a Communications or Public Affairs team in diverse and dynamic organisational environments.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to develop and deliver high-quality, innovative communication and content strategies and materials through a variety of channels.
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluating projects as part of continual improvement.
