• About the Role
• We are seeking a dedicated support worker to join our team and provide personalized care for a young girl diagnosed with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). PDA is a complex autism spectrum disorder characterized by an extreme avoidance of everyday demands and expectations. As a support worker, you will play a crucial role in understanding and addressing the specific needs of the individual, fostering their independence, and promoting their overall well-being.
• Responsibilities
• Develop a deep understanding of the individual's needs, preferences, and triggers.
• Provide emotional support, guidance, and encouragement in daily activities.
• Implement strategies to manage and reduce demand avoidance behaviors effectively.
• Foster a positive and empowering environment that promotes growth and development.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, educators, and family members.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of progress and incidents.
• Requirements
• Previous experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders or similar conditions is preferred.
• NDIS Clearance
• Patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations and remain calm under pressure.
• Willingness to undergo additional training and development as required.
• Additional Details
• This position involves night shifts as well as daily visits to the Dreamcare Farm, where therapeutic activities and interactions with animals are integrated into the individual's care plan.
