We are seeking for an experienced Disability Support Worker for our client who requires Person-Centered support in Bribie Island. This position is for a Support Worker with experience in complex behaviours on a casual basis to provide an ongoing support to our client's participants.
The position and requirements
We're seeking passionate Disability Support Workers to make a difference in the lives of people with disability. Your role will see you working closely with individuals, building connections and developing pathways to ensure they are able to achieve their individual goals and maintain socially valued roles, friendships and relationships.
Reporting to the manager, you will work alongside people with physical / mental Health and intellectual disabilities, helping them to access opportunities by connecting them with appropriate community contacts. You will ensure that opportunities for work, membership to social groups and volunteering opportunities are accessible, encouraging and supporting individuals to achieve their goals while staying happy, healthy and safe.
This hands-on role will also require you to ensure the health and safety of our clients and team members are at the forefront of everything we do.
About the role
We're looking for a new team member who can demonstrate previous experience supporting clients with disability, including those with complex behaviours and health needs. We require Male and Female Support Workers who can provide mentorship support as well.
Key Responsibilities
Managing clients with
Maintain and monitor a client's support plan whilst modelling a person-centred approach
Identify and support a range of learning opportunities for our clients
Observe and document an individual's progress and any changes through detailed note keeping
Skills & Experience
Minimum Qualification - Cert IV in Individual Support
Previous experience supporting People with Disability, High behaviours of concern / or mental health is preferable
Current QLD Drivers Licence
Current First Aid Certificate & CPR
Demonstrated commitment to supporting and engaging with low and high support clients
Proven success managing and monitoring challenging behaviours
Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships
