3Rd / 4Th Year Apprentice Maintenance Fitter

This position will allow the successful applicants to complete a formal qualification in Engineering - Fitter. You will work with highly skilled supervisors and tradespeople to receive hands on learning and develop skills to maintain various plant and equipment.

• Once qualified you will be able to perform the following duties
• Perform routine inspections of all systems and equipment.
• Evaluate maintenance work orders, set priorities and process work assignments.
• Perform routine repair work and other work of a general maintenance nature.
• Establish and communicate the level of quality and safety expected in the performance of maintenance tasks.
• Work independently as well as part of a team
• Maintaining focus on safety and safe working methods including JSAs, Risk Assessments, LOTO and permits to work
• Investigate failures and make recommendations to reduce risk and improve systems / processes
• Monitor and develop new maintenance schedules for equipment, plant, and other relevant data to identify faults
• Develops a functional understanding of all essential building systems to assure systems are operating correctly and efficiently
• About you
• Currently in 3rd or 4th year of study towards a trade qualification in Fitter / Machinist or Maintenance Fitter.
• Willingness to learn and develop the relevant skills
• Ability to follow instructions
• Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
• Commitment to study and complete your trade qualification
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work in a safe manner in line with WHS requirements
• Punctuality and reliability
• Able to work a rotating roster and Saturdays as required
