Bendigo Kangan Institute (BKI) is an organisation that encompasses a history of over 165 years of education and training, BKI is one of the largest TAFEs in Victoria with ten campuses stretching from Docklands to Echuca. BKI is an organisation that comprises the following :
Reporting to the Chief People, Brand & Strategy Officer, the Head of People and Culture will provide expert and influential support and leadership on all people and culture matters across the organisation of more than 1300 staff. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Executive and other leaders across the business to ensure that the P&C strategy aligns with organisational goals and values, and that the strategy is brought to life in the day-to-day work of your team. You will lead a team of six direct reports, building the internal culture and capability to allow the team to provide support and direction to key stakeholders. BKI are working hard to transform the VET sector as a whole - challenging everything that's ever been done and working to modernise the employee and student experiences. The People and Culture portfolio are the enablers operating behind the scenes to make this happen, and as the Head of People and Culture you will bring EQ, innovation, and the confidence to break barriers and make BKI the very best it can be.
To be successful in this role, you will bring exceptional experience leading people and culture functions within large, multi-site organisations, ideally with a transformational lens. You will be a highly-skilled generalist, with a keen interest in and understanding of various functions within the portfolio, and understanding of the levers that need to be pulled to create change. Your key passion will be in building high-performing and highly-engaged teams that can elevate the performance of an organisation through its people. You are known for your highly effective people leadership approach, and ability to bring teams along on the change journey with you. With a tertiary qualification in HR or Business, and significant experience in a public sector or aligned organisation, your track record of successfully uplifting culture and capability will speak for itself. You are equal parts strategic and people-focused, and excited by the opportunity to take ownership of the function and help elevate BKI to the next level.

Please note that the successful applicant will require a Working with Children Check, National Police Check, and will hold full working rights in Australia. You can be based at any of the BKI campuses across metropolitan Melbourne, or in Bendigo, and this role will require travel to different sites in Victoria.
