We are currently seeking a Senior Specialist : Mine Engineering (Open Pit) to join the Australian Business Unit Technical Services Team.
Accountable to the Manager : Mining, this role is responsible for p roviding technical expertise and analysis primarily for the Open Pit Operations, while ensuring integration with the whole of the operation including the Underground Mine.
Here you will develop, review, and support implementation of mine planning systems, ensuring adherence to mining standards and regulatory requirements .This role is predominantly based in the Perth corporate office on a 5 days on, 2 days off roster however regular site travel to both Australian mines will be required.Role PurposeProvide expert mining technical support for all operational activities, mine planning, projects and studies in the Australia Business Unit.Accountabilities : Apply advanced mining techniques knowledge and safety risk management, innovate and improve mining processes, and assist in the successful delivery of projects through hands-on technical involvement in operations to support the delivery of the Life-of-Mine plan.Apply operation expertise in areas of open pit mining production, mine design, drill and blast, mine planning and haulage and key components of mining projects and studies, long term mine planning and to support successful operational execution of mine plansReview short term and integrated mine plans and production performance to assess alignment with longer term Business PlansCarry out mining cost modelling.
Ensure financial viability of technical solutions is accurately assessed, in line with the broader operational objectives.Support Full Potential initiatives, identifying opportunities, and follow up with assisting with implementation, tracking and reporting, helping to drive value creationAct in accordance with the AngloGold Ashanti values, and develop and maintain constructive relationships with colleagues, business partners and other stakeholders.About YouPeople are at the heart of everything we do.

To be considered, we would like to see you have : A Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related discipline.Extensive experience in hard rock open pit mining, including demonstrated mine planning, drill and blast, and operations experience, with an understanding of the interaction between Open pit and Underground mining.An understanding of mining cost estimation and analysis.Advanced skills using generic mining packages is essential, Tactical Scheduler, Surpac / Vulcan, Whittle (Open Pit) or similar.
