- About the opportunity
As a
- Student Affairs Officer
- you will play a key role in managing and resolving student complaints and conduct matters. You'll work within established frameworks to ensure issues are addressed in a timely, fair, and student-centred manner.
You'll liaise with students and staff, write high-quality case communications, and contribute to continuous improvement projects across the unit. Your work will help shape a culture of procedural fairness, cultural safety, and trauma-informed practice.
Your key responsibilities will be to :
- manage a caseload of student complaints and conduct matters, ensuring fair and timely resolution in line with University policies
- communicate sensitively with students and staff to clarify concerns, gather information, and explain outcomes
- prepare clear and well-structured correspondence, briefing notes, and outcome letters
- provide advice on complaint procedures and student conduct expectations
- maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with privacy requirements
- support responses to complaints received from external bodies, including the National Student Ombudsman
- contribute to service improvements by identifying trends and opportunities through data and feedback
- participate in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement activities.
- About you
- strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and professional correspondence
- confidence in handling sensitive matters with discretion and empathy
- strong attention to detail and can manage competing deadlines
- experience in complaints handling or case management, ideally in higher education, public sector, or insurance
- works well both independently and as part of a collaborative, student-focused team.
