JOB DESCRIPTION

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Operations provides strategic leadership and operational management to the Operations Directorate.

This role provides strategic leadership in driving innovation, best practices, and continuous improvement across asset planning and delivery, and frontline service delivery.

This role manages the delivery of projects and initiatives including the Capital Works Program as described in the CSP and Delivery Plan and Operational Plan.

With a strong focus on measurable outcomes, this role supports the long-term sustainability of the LGA's infrastructure and environment.

The Director ensures the delivery of best practice services for infrastructure and public spaces, directly contributing to the amenity and livability of the community, in compliance with the Council's Management Framework (DMF).

ABOUT YOU

Relevant degree or equivalent in the field related to the Directorate scope, combined with management experience with a workforce that is primarily either frontline service delivery or industrial workers.

Experience with leading the design and delivery of infrastructure projects, and executive leadership and operational experience within a complex and highly operational environment, with a strong record of delivering strategic outcomes and high-quality services.

Success in leading multi-disciplinary teams including frontline, technical, and professional team members, fostering accountability, safety, and service excellence.

Exceptional business acumen including proficiency in business principles and management techniques, financial and budget management, decision-making, project management, situational awareness, analytical strength, and problem-solving approaches.

Strategic thinker with excellent judgment, political acumen, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
