The Role
Defence Digital Group (DDG) Capability Analysts contribute directly to Government ICT priorities. As an APS 6 Capability Analyst, you will support a medium sized team and work directly to your team lead. Working in the Digital Capability Division you will apply your analytical and critical thinking to tasks performed, whilst demonstrating a proactive attitude to the Directorate of Enterprise Future Project’s deliverables.
You will work with reasonable autonomy, and contribute and build team capability through the delivery of expected outcomes. Additionally, you will assist in setting work priorities and managing workflows.
You will be accountable for interpreting policies relating to Capability including the One Defence Capability System (ODCS), Integrated Investment Program (IIP) and those internal to DDG (including Industry Best Practice), to elicit ICT requirements and inform project scope.

As a Capability Analyst, you will also support the development of strategic narratives, to support the development of critical project planning artefacts, such as dependency maps, capability documents, cost estimates, and business cases.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines / classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team
The Directorate of Enterprise Future Projects (EFP) is the Defence Digital Group’s Capability lead for the Defence Protected Network Program. We are responsible for working across DDG and broader Defence to determine our program’s digital requirements, whilst developing key artefacts for Senior Leadership and Government decision making.
EFP determines scope and logical deliverables for future state EICT Projects to enable a safe, secure and resilient protected network through the adoption of best in class platforms onto modernised architecture. Excellent communication skills are key to the candidate’s success as they demonstrate their ability to interpret and apply information relevant to the IIP, the Defence Digital Strategy and Roadmap (DDSR) and the ICT ecosystem.
Within the workplace, they will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and independently seek ways to find solutions and improve processes within the context of a large Department. Strong financial experience in budgetary preparation and costings is highly desirable however, the candidate’s willingness to learn new concepts will be equally advantageous.
