    • We are currently seeking to temporarily fill the role of Assistant Director, Workplace Relations.

      This is a leadership position within the People Branch, and wider department, and is responsible for ensuring workplace relations guidance and advice that we deliver for our business and people are actioned in a responsive, timely, effective and efficient manner, and in line with the public sector employment framework.

      In this role, you will work closely with key stakeholders to deliver a range of services, including, but not limited to :

    • Providing strategic advice on departmental employment matters in compliance with relevant legislation, APS policy and departmental practices relating to :
    • Enterprise bargaining, enterprise agreement(s) and related procedures
    • Conditions of service, including overseas posts
    • Enterprise agreement disputes and grievances.
    • Managing the Departmental Consultative Committee Secretariat function.
    • Providing briefings, reports, and papers relating to complex employment matters to senior management and the Executive.
    • Building and maintaining strong and effective partnerships and working relationships with all clients and stakeholders, including employee organisation officials, senior management in the Department and the Indian Ocean Territories Administration.
    • Leading and managing direct reports in the Workplace Relations Team to achieve its outcomes.

    • Minimum requirements for this role include :

    • Proven leadership skills and the ability to effectively coordinate work ensuring high quality and timely outcomes.
    • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, including strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to provide timely and concise advice to inform and support executive decision making.
    • Ability to establish and maintain key strategic relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
