On behalf of out client, a global green solutions business, we are looking for an skilled and suitable Mechanical Designer.
This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to design a safe and efficient electriclocomotive which meets industry standards and regulations.
You will be responsible for designing and developing the systems using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- About this role
- System Design : Design and develop the 3D design model of a locomotive assembly incorporating electricalsystems including power distribution, control, auxiliary and traction systems.
- Detailed Engineering Design : Interpret detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagrams and translate theinformation to 3D space.
- Integration : Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineers to integrate electricalsystems seamlessly into the overall design.
- Cost Management : Assist in cost estimation for components and systems, optimizing designs for costeffectiveness while maintaining quality.
- Testing and Troubleshooting : Participate in the testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems, identifyingand resolving issues during prototype and production phases.
- Documentation : Maintain comprehensive documentation of mechanical and electrical designs, changes, andrevisions throughout the project lifecycle.
- CAD Proficiency : Utilise SolidWorks and AutoCAD software proficiently for drafting, modelling, and creating2D and 3D drawings.
- CAD Management : Support the buildup of comprehensive CAD assemblies with 5000+ parts whilst adheringto product data management processes in workflows.
- Team Collaboration : Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers,electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure project success.
- Quality Assurance : Ensure that all electrical & mechanical designs adhere to quality standards and are alignedwith project objectives.
- Ability to work from Redcliffe location.
- About you
- Mechanical or electrical diploma or degree.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in design & drafting in 2D and 3D space.
- Exposure in designing at a concept level to quickly mockup designs, as well as full detailed design with fullproduction and assembly detail.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for mechanical design.
- Experience in building up and working with comprehensive CAD models with 5000+ parts.
- Strong understanding of electrical & mechanical engineering principles and practices.
- Experience in designing for locomotive and rail; especially with mounting and interfacing electrical systems.
- Knowledge of battery electric vehicle or train systems is preferred.
- Sound knowledge of Design for Manufacture & Design for Assembly.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to Rail and Locomotives highly regarded.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to work autonomously Australian Full working rights
